Launched in April 2008, Acton Capital Partners is an independent, partner-led specialist investor in internet-based, consumer-oriented businesses. With more than 55 investments since 1999, the Acton team brings a wealth of expertise to the companies in which it invests, delivering superior capital returns.
Our Current Funds
The Heureka Growth Funds I and II target late/growth stage companies with an established track record of revenue and profitability. The ideal investment candidates are European technology-enabled companies striving to take their growth opportunities to the next level.
Heureka I, established in 2008, currently has 15 companies in its portfolio, such as Linas Matkasse, momox, MyOptique Group, mytheresa.com, and windeln.de – many of them market leaders on a national or European level. Funding comes from international private and institutional investors, providing 150 million Euro in total.
Heureka II held its first close in January 2014 at 80 million Euro. We are targeting a total fund size of at least 150 million Euro. With Heureka II, we continue pursuing our investment strategy driven by the fundamental shift of consumer transactions from the offline to the digital world. Like its predecessor, the new fund will target transaction-based, B2C and B2smallB business models in e-commerce, online marketplaces, e-services and digital media. The focus remains firmly on Europe, with a maximum of 30% available for investment outside the region.
More investments we oversee
In addition, we manage the BDV Fund, with Hubert Burda Media being the sole investor. Established in 1999, the BDV Fund today has less than ten companies in its portfolio, after seeing a number of successful exits via a variety of routes including IPOs and trade sales. Since its inception, the BDV Fund has focussed on internet-enabled companies from early to late stage situations, with Acton Capital Partners assuring continuity for the portfolio companies and their outstanding entrepreneurs.
The highest profile names on the list of successes include Ciao! the product and price review comparison website, AbeBooks, the world’s largest used and antiquarian book site, and HolidayCheck, the traveller to traveller travel forum. The BDV Fund is closed to investment in new ventures but has capital in reserve for further investment in existing companies should they require it.
